2012

March

    Hunter's Hotline will present "An Evening for our Students," on March 6, at 6 p.m. The event will take place in the Huntsville High School Auditorium. Guest speakers will be Candy Stephenson and Kirk Smalley. The event teaches students in both middle and high school about the dangers of drug abuse and bullying.
    The Partnership is planning to host another Take-Back Initiative Saturday, March 10 from 9 - 12 at locations in Huntsville, Madison and Madison County. The recent Take-Back Initiative on September 24 was a huge success. More than 700 pounds of prescription medications were collected among the three sites. One was located in Madison County, one in the City of Madison and one in Huntsville.

April

    The Partnership will hold its Spring Board Meeting, April 25 in the Public Health Building Community Room, between noon and 1 p.m. The event will be located at 301 Max Luther Drive. Aaron King, transition director for the Huntsville City School System, will be the guest speaker.

2011

June

  • 11th Annual Legacy Fun Day
    Hundreds of elementary school students will be invited to a day of good clean fun with inflatable slides, bouncers, other games and face painting. Refreshments will be served. More details to come.

    A Take Back Initiative to collect unused or expired medications for safe disposal will be held 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 19 at three locations.

  • New Drug Coalition to fight Meth
    After seven months of planning the Southeast Madison County Coalition to prevent and decrease the demand for methamphetamine and other illicit drugs is ready to move into the second phase of its efforts. The group, formed in August 2009, voted on its strategic plan and begin implementing it during a meeting Monday, March 22. Read about it here

  • National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month
    September 1 – September 30, 2009
    Partnership's collaborative substance abuse effort with the religious community . The intent is for congregations to raise a united voice during regular service prayer time requesting divine guidance for those plagued by substance abuse. Specifically, the prayer should led during the weekend of  September 26 and 27 and be conducted for individuals experiencing substance abuse issues, their families, and the professionals working in the treatment field.   For more information, contact the Partnership office 256.539.7330.  For more information on the national campaign,  click on the icon below to learn more.

  • Alcohol Awareness Month
    To recognize the serious problem of alcohol abuse, April is designated “Alcohol Awareness Month.” April 8 marks the annual observance of National Alcohol Screening Day (NASD) .  At locations across the United States, people can be screened—anonymously—to see if their drinking habits may be risky.
     

  • Kick Butts Day
    April 5, 2009
    Youth Empowerment Program members decorate school bulletin boards with messages promoting the advantages of a tobacco-free lifestyle.  Rallies are held and literature is distributed across the Huntsville/Madison County area schools.
