Debra Milliken has been appointed
project director for the Partnership for a Drug-Free Community.
Partnership was awarded a grant for Safe and Drug-Free Schools &
Communities from the Law Enforcement/Traffic Safety Division of the
Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
Milliken joined the Partnership in October and has been teaching the
prevention program, “Too Good for Drugs and Violence” to 290 middle
school youth, city-wide, since November of 2005. The program teaches
middle school youth techniques for making healthy decisions and
addressing conflicts. Through receipt of the grant, the Partnership
is able to expand drug prevention and education programs throughout
the Huntsville/Madison County area. Milliken, a Huntsville native,
joined the Partnership last October. She received her BA in
Psychology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
