The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)
YEP is a group of teens who are trained to be
community advocates promoting an anti-tobacco message. The group
focuses on environmental issues that can help reduce tobacco use and
works to raise the awareness of the dangers associated with
second-hand smoke. They participate in local health fairs and
events, attend council meetings and petition the community to join
together for a smoke-free environment.
Youth throughout Madison county ages 11-18 are
encouraged to join the group as the program gears up activities
after summer break. Anyone interested can contact Janet Craig by
phoning 256.539-7339 or emailing
craigjl@hiwaay.net. Or you can print the application below
(PDF), complete it and fax it to 256.539.7386.
